I really like Lori and wish more people would recognize the justifications behind her actions. She's not being cruel and manipulative. She has good reason to be warning Rick about Shane. Shane's a dangerous idiot and I wish people would stop siding with him.

Here's another question (from the characterization anon). The conflict in the show is obviously interpersonal and internal, the greatest enemy the survivors are facing is each other. How realistic do you think this is and how do you think downplaying the zombie conflict adds to the show?

Of course the greatest enemy is each other and themselves. Isn’t that always true.
It’s quite realistic. I mean try to take away someones Starbucks, notebook, iPhone, car, chinese the man’s gonna shatter.
Everyone wants to protect their own and unless you are really close, every group is gonna fall apart. All it takes is one bad word, one voiced doubt and the seed is planted.
And when you start doubt yourself, doing things you never thought you are gonna do you either deal with it (Daryl) or you let it bury you (Shane).
The virus and the zombie thing just adds to the internal stress. It’s the source and it’s the thing keeping the tension up. If it wasn’t for the apocalypse they could just sit down and act civilized a la Dale.
The worst thing is they don’t have much hope for any good ending, but they aren’t entirely hopeless either. And you how’s it with giving hope to a dying man, if he wants to live he’ll do anything, but he’s still gonna get that bullet in his head or worse he’s gonna put it there himself, buried under all the horror he’s done while chasing hope.
(What was the question again…got sidetracked by the methaphorical beauty of what I wrote xD)
How do you think the writer's have been with characterization in the show? I think it's been a bit inconsistent but overall very good.

Some characters are awesomely written. I loved how Shane’s character development reflected the journey from a normal, more-less boring life into complete madness.
I loved how the writers handled Rick, trying to hold onto the last pieces of civilization, just to realize in this chaos you have to adjust to survive. That’s what animals do, in order to survive their change their color, food, etc.
Dale tried to hold on to it and look what happened.
I loved Andrea and her fight with herself. I think it was brilliantly written and insightful and true to a regular, everyday person. Yes, I think it would be a liiiittle bit un-real in real life for a civil rights lawyer to become a gunman overnight.
Daryl is very well written, although I worry a bit about how are they gonna handle this Carol situation. Which brings me to Carol. Carol is more complex than she gets credit for. Blame the lack of screen-time, the Caryl anti-shipping I just don’t get the hate on her (then again I don’t with Andrea and didn’t with Shane either). She has the most human flaws. She was abused, she got freed in this awful world and now she’s looking out for herself and also Daryl (since she only has him left, but also b/c she cares). Call her narrow-minded, but she never experienced anything life changing. All she had influencing her was the abusive husband who made her believe she deserved it, than made her feel like a piece of **** who can’t protect her daughter. And considering this all, she still DIDN’T want to die in the CDC because she had a daughter to protect. So, who the freak is saying she is weak?!
Lori is portrayed as a totally lost soul and she is more-less a constant. I hate her so much, so kudos to the writers if that was intensional.
Carl - well, I don’t have to like where they are going with it to enjoy it, so…
The only character I didn’t like was Dale. Really he was a bit inconsistent, one day leading the whole surviving is the most important thing club, the next saying stuff like I better die civilized than live like an animal.
Yeah, I think my rant wants to say that I’m satisfied with the charaters/writing.

Ehm, let’s write about how good Andrea looks, how hot Rick is, how resourceful Glenn can be, how sexy Shane was, how good Carl is at playing hide and seek, don’t forget Daryl who is The Awesomeness, how Dale could produce creepy eyes in a way no one before him in the history of TV, how T-Dog is the most famous character while barely even speaking.
But hey, no one would read that. I tell you why: What news do you usually read first, a report about the current situation in Syria or the Kim Kardashian’s pants make her back look bigger than ever gossip bit?
